The two-photon absorption and the two-photon-excited fluorescence spectra of two symmetrical chromophores 2,5-Bis[4-(2-N, N-diphenylaminostyryl) phenyl]-1, 3,4-oxadiazole (PASPO) and 2,5-bis { 4-[2-N, N-di (4-bromophenyl) aminostyryl) phenyl]-1, 3,4-oxadiazole (BrPASPO) were measured using a femtosecond Ti: sapphire laser at 800 nm. Their two-photon absorption cross-sections obtained by nonlinear transmission method are 20.6 and 9.91GM. Pumped by a femtosecond laser at 800nm, strong upconversion fluorescence with the central wavelength at 535 and 545nm in the solution of CH2Cl2 have been observed. The maximum peaks of single-photon-excited fluorescence in the solution of CH2Cl2 are at 512nm for PASPO and at 495nm for BrPASPO with high fluorescence quantum yields 0.73 and 0.70, respectively.
