Technological advances and wide applications in many fields promote the progress of big data industry. Grounded on the current situation of big data industry in China, this study provides insight into the characteristics of the big data industry and the principal contradiction during its developmental process, based on which, policy suggestions are proposed for sustainable development of big data industry.
