Online reverse auctions are increasingly being used in industrial souring activities. This phenomenon represents a novel emerging area of inquiry with significant implications for sourcing strategies. This article reviews the use of these auctions in sourcing activities and highlights four key aspects： the main motives for using online reverse auction; the potential risks for using online reverse auction; the conditions for using online reverse auction successfully, and buyer-supplier relationship in online reverse auctions. Further researches are also provided.
