In this paper, preliminary investigation related to the biological and ecological characteristics of natural population of Ornithoctonus huwena is proceeded. As a sort of huge spider, Ornithoctonus huwena lives in burrow in general and distributes mainly over the tropical and subtropical areas in the southern part of China. The vegetation of the spiders＇ habitat can be classified as tropical monsoon forest. The living burrows of Ornithoctonus huwena , with a loose cobweb tube at each of their entrances in most cases, are usually dispersed on hillsides or the fringe of cultivated lands. The construction of the holes are horizontal or a little declining. In the last decade, because of man - made destruction and environmental contamination, the number of natural population of Ornithoctonus huwena has been sharply decreasing. This kind of spider has been in severe danger of dying out. Under the harsh condition, some protecting measures are put forward in this passage.
