本研究在回顾了国内外学者阐述外语教师素质的文献基础上,提取了28个因子,然后从4个纬度——知识、技能、能力和大学英语教师个人特征设计了大学英语教师的调查问卷。本研究对全国100所高校的1200位大学英语教师作了问卷调查并通过SPSS11.0统计软件就大学英语教师个人特征——学历、职称、教龄、出国留学经历、年龄、性别和研究方向对知识、技能和能力的影响进行均值、标准差和多元回归分析研究。研究发现了重点高校的大学英语教师与非重点高校的大学英语教师在知识、技能和能力方面存在明显差异。并且,大学英语教师的学历、职称、教龄、留学经历、年龄、性别和研究方向对知识、技能和能力均有影响。本论文的研究结果对构建大学英语教师的知识、技能和能力内涵有一定的借鉴意义。
This paper explores the impact of college English teachers' individual characteristics on knowledge, skill and ability. Based on the review of the previous literature on the quality of foreign language teachers, 28 attributes were derived. A questionnaire, designed from 4 dimensions such as individual characteristic, knowledge, skill and ability was distributed to 1200 college English teachers in 100 colleges and universities. Data collection, a factor analysis and a principal components analysis were conducted with SPSS 11.0 to assess the degree of importance of the attributes. It investigates the individual characteristics, knowledge, skills and abilities of college English teachers. The findings reveal that there exists an obvious difference in the knowledge, skill and ability between teachers from key colleges and universities and those from non-key colleges and universities. This research proves that the individual characteristics such as degree, professional position,, gender, age, research orientation, studying-abroad experience and years of teaching exercise impact on the knowledge, skills and abilities of college English teachers. The outcome of this paper is expected to be of significance to the construction of knowledge-skills-abilities connotation of college English teachers.
