mBased on the matter-element analysis method, the water quality in Qiantang River basin is evaluated, and the representative indicators, such as ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus, total nitrogen, pH （dimensionless） and so on, are selected as assessment matter-element, therefore, the quality evaluation model on water environment in Qiantang River basin is built. It is likely to draw the conclusion that water quality of Qiantang River in 2012 is at Grade Ⅱ as a whole, which is consistent with the objective data. Research indicates that matter-element analysis method has better objectivity on the evaluation of water quality and practical application value.
