On the basis of the connotation of new urbanization, this paper established the index system of new urbanization level, and by the ana- lytic hierarchy process（ AHP）, determined the weights of the index to get the comprehensive score of new urbanization level in 2002,2007,2012 of the 14 cities in Hunan Province. By the spatial analysis of ArcGIS, the pattern and space distribution of new urbanization level in the three years of Hunan Province were obtained. And the results showed：（1）Hunan new urbanization level was not high as a whole,the overall difference between city region was large and narrowing. （2）Hunan new urbanization level appeared obvious spatial variation and high center expansion, low center unchanged. （3）Hunan new urbanization level area was constantly westward expansion trend, the east central trend also strengthen.
