The primary technologies and characteristics of formaldehyde synthesis using silver as catalyst were introduced. Based on the three-link energy structural model, the energy analysis and exergy analysis were conducted for a formaldehyde synthesis process. The optimization directions and corresponding improving measures were proposed, which including the decrease of feed-steam and the reasonable utilization of reaction heat to generate more steam, etc.
