Diabetic gastrointestinal dysfunction is a common complication of diabetes mellitus. Due to high blood glucose level and metabolic disorders,gastrointestinal autonomic nerve is affected thus causing digestive system dysfunction in diabetic patients. This situation has seriously affected the quality of life of pa-tients with diabetes. Shengjiang Xiexin Decoction is characterized by“acrid diffusing and bitter descending, cold and heat were cast”,thus can significantly improve the efficacy of gastric motility,and stablize blood glu-cose in the treatment of diabetic gastrointestinal dysfunction. Through a case study of the treatment of diabetic gastrointestinal dysfunction by professor Tong Xiaolin,this article introduces the clinical experience on the treatment of diabetes with gastrointestinal lesions by using Shengjiangxiexin Decoction. The main clinical manifestations of the patients are diarrhea and constipation,with diarrhea being the major manifestation. The key of treatment is diffusing acrid and descending bitter,and regulating middle - jiao′s qi. This article ex-pounds Tong′s treatment regime“symptom - syndrome - disease”and flexibility in the use of the“Acrid -Diffusing and Bitter - Descending”method in treatment of diabetic diarrhea.
