In an age without modem medical examination on semen, Traditional Chinese Medicine （TCM） diagnosed male infertility by examining multiple spouses＇ fertility status, spouses＂ menstrual status and the clinical symptoms of patients them- selves. The diagnosis lacked accuracy. There was many experiences in the diagnosis and treatment for male infertility in TCM, but the experiences were subjected to question due to the inaccurate diagnosis. It was imperative to combine the differentiated di- agnosis and treatment of TCM with modem medieine. The author advocated that the modem TCM diagnosis of male infertility should be combined with modern medical semen examination for differentiated treatment.
