Metaphor is gradually developed into a scientific method from the initial rhetorical devices,which has been applied to many subjects for researching and interpreting. With the scientific research representing the characteristics and trend of complexity, comprehensive and abstract, metaphor has been introduced into the research of system science, and which has become an important tool for the description of concept and theory. So it' s important to discuss how the knowledge of system science is represented by means of metaphor from the aspects of development and function of metaphor, work mechanisms and effectiveness of metaphor in knowledge representation.
