Historical and cultural famous ancient town relocation at southwest mountainous area faces the problems such as difficult to keep mountain and water pattern, the ancient town, worrying design and construction quality and change of space spirit, remolding of the vitality of so on. This paper takes Gongtan Ancient Town of Chongqing as an example, compares the changes before and after the relocation in multiple-dimension and multiplelayer perspective, analyzes its space quality and construction strategy, and summarizes the project from such three aspects as inheriting space features, remolding space vitality and ordered optimal construction in order to provide the guidance for future ancient town relocation project at southwest mountainous area.
