A novel Schiff base containing two optical functional blocks, 1 -phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl- 5-pyrazolone-N-benzyl-carbazole（6）, was synthesized from phenylhydrazine, ethyl acetoacetate and carbazole. The structure was confirmed by ^1H NMR and IR. Its electron structure was investigated primarily by UV-Vis. Compared with acylpyrazolone or carbazole group, 6 exhibits special electron structure.
