To carry out an undergraduate comprehensive experiment, a new self-assembled multiplayer film was prepared by alternating electrostatic adsorption of Prussian blue (PB) and a dipolar Ru( II ) complex, and was characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. An analysis of UV-vis spectroscopy revealed that the film was uniformly deposited up to 12 layers or more, and that the charge transfer between PB and the Ru ( II ) complex may occur in the film. Cyclic voltammetry showed that this novel inorganic-organic composite film is of good electrochemical activity, with two PB- and one Ru-based redox couples.
