Ten compounds were isolated from the 95% ethanol extract of the whole alga Chondria crassicaulis Harv for the first time. On the basis of the spectral data interpretation,they were characterized to be 1,3,4-pentanetriol-3,4-acetonide ( 1 ), 3β-hydroxyl-cholest-5-en (2), 3β-hydroxyl-cholest-5,22-dien (3), stigmasta-5-en-3β,Tα-diol ( 4 ), 1,2-di-O- ( 9,12, 15-Octadecatrienoyl ) -3-O- ( β-D-galactopyranosyl ) glycerol ( 5 ), 2 -O- ( 9,12,15-octadecatrienoyl ) glycerol ( 6), 1,3-di-O- (9,12,15-octadecatrienoyl) glycerol ( 7), 1,2,3-tri-O- (9,12,15-octadecatrienoyl) glycerol ( 8), phytyl palmitate (9), and palmitic acid (10). Compound 1 was a new compound. Compounds 2-10 were isolated from this species for the first time.
