Based on the analysis of air hammer bit, the present situation of research on mechanics, mechanism of bit and rock mutual impedance, statics, dynamics, hydraulics and the usage of computer simulation on bit are introduced. The research tendency on bit is proposed, which are the design of PDC and double-dome carbide teeth, the analysis of bit mechanics, the bit tooth "arrangement,computer simulation software applied on bit research, which can offer the references to the optimal design of the air hammer bit.
