Objective To explore the morphology of hair follicle bulge-the stem cells and the expression of uPA/uPAR. Methods The morphological character of hair follicle was observed with HE staining,and the expression of uPA/uPAR in the bulge of hair follicle was tested with immunocytochemistry and in situ hybridization. Results The human hair follicle bulge was prominent in the bulbous follicle peg stage; the uPA/uPAR was expressed in the bulge,outer root sheath,sebaceous gland of hair follicle and basal layer and suprabasal layer of epidermis. Conclusion Human hair follicles at the bulbous follicle peg stage provide convenience for studying the stem cells of hair follicle; the expression of uPA/uPAR is correlative with the proliferation and migration of stem cell of hair follicle and the conveying signals among cells in bulge of hair follicle.
