In this paper,complex of europium with 5-Cyanoisophthalic acidhas been synthesized in the aqueous solution.Bright red has been observed when excited by UV light.The molecular structure of the complex of EuLCl·3H2O(L = C6H3CN(COO)22-),has been identified by elemental analysis.UV absorption of the complex is mainly from the ligand.The complex has been chelated through Eu3+ and carbonyl oxygen of the ligand,which has been confirmed by IR,and excellent fluorescence property has been confirmed by the fluorescence spectrum.Optimal excitation wavelength is 395nm,and the emission spectrum of the complex indicated that there was a strong peak at 616nm and that the complex has no symmetrical center.Meanwhile,the fluorescence spectrum of the complex suggests the M-M fluorescence mechanism.
