Based on China's 1999-2006 30 provincial panel data, this paper studies the impact of international trade, FDI and other economic opening up phenomena on the proportion of skilled labor supply. Different from Avalos's (2006), Katz and Murphy's (1992) research results, the overall study finds that: trade dependence, FDI and other economic openness factors through education in- vestment rather than relative wages have significantly positive effect on skilled labor supply; relative skilled wages and cross-terms of wage and trade dependence, FDI do not significantly affect skilled labor supply; while education investment and cross-terms of educa- tion investment and trade dependence, FDI have significantly positive effect on skilled labor supply, trade dependency and investment share variables have significantly positive effect on skilled labor supply. Meanwhile, further research shows that areas classified by ed- ucation level, education investment, the wage gap between skilled and unskilled labor and other characteristics are the important fac- tors affect skilled labor supply.
