Using styrene (St) and acrylic acid(AA) as monomers, the magnetic polymer microspheres P(St-AA)/Fes 04 were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP) with an initiator 4 chloromethyl benzoic acid. The paper discussed some influencing factors, such as reaction temperature, reaction time and molar ratio of reactants in detail, and found optimum experiment conditions. The surface carboxyl content of the prepared microspheres is up to 0.50 mmol/g, and the average particle size is about 50 nm, the distribution of which is relatively uniform.
