Periodontal ligament stem cells（PDLSC） exist in the periodontal tissues. As a kind of high proliferation, selfrenewal and multilineage differentiation mesenchymal stem cells, they play an important role in maintaining dynamic homeostasis and wound repair of periodontal tissues, and are considered to be one of the crucial type of cells in periodontal tissue engineering and regenerative medicine research. In recent years, it was found that a variety of factors may influencethe biological characteristics of periodontal ligament stem cells, In this paper, we reviewed the biological factors on periodontal ligament stem cells with recent literatures, and prospect the future stem cell therapy application prospect.
