To fully understand the operation mechanism and self-organization characteristics of bucket brigades model, the major research of bucket brigades model was reviewed. The research achievement such as the nominal bucket brigades model of domestic and aboard, the bucket brigades model considered the worker＇s processing time, arrangement and learning ability, the discrete workstations bucket brigades model, the bucket brigades model with complex production environments and bucket brigades rules were summarized and reviewed. On this basis, some key research area in this field was discussed, which could provide references for bucket brigades theoretical study and its application of in China.
