By taking our experience of participation in the interdisciplinary contest in modeling (ICM) 2014 as an example, we introduce the contest and show the benefits of participation in it for a student in department of phys- ics. We describe the problem of ICM 2014 and the method to solve it in detail. In this way,we prove the advantage of thinking in a physics way in mathematical modeling.
