In view of unified description for events organization and association in manufacturing process,structural model of complex event was established by analyzing the event type and relationship in discrete manufacturing process. In addition,a XML-based event description Language（ XEDL） was built for productive event combining with grammar and semantics as well as operators on complex event. Compared with common description of complex event model,a XEDL-based description case of event in chili oil production was presented to illustrate the capacity and superiority of the proposed event description language.
