Swollenin is a kind of very important protein for biomass utilization in the biorefinery engineering. The recombinant Aspergillus oryzae was constructed to produce Trichoderma reesei swollenin. The preliminary bioactivity assay showed that the swollenin could not hydrolyzing cellulose mocrofibrils but could exhibit a significant synergistic effect on cellulose hydrolysis with cellulose. Further studies showed that the bioactivity of swollenin was affected by different temperature and pH, and the optimal ranges ofpH and temperature were determined for its full bioactivity.
