In June 2011 to May 2013, excavations were conducted to the Guanzhuang Site in Xingyang City, which recovered a city site of the Zhou Dynasty. This city site consisted of two jointed wall-enclosed cities arranged in north-south layout and was surrounded by multiple rings of moats. The south gate of the small city and relevant architectures and the entry and exit facilities were all the first discoveries of the same types in the archaeology of the city sites of the Zhou Dynasty. The discovery of the Guanzhuang city site is valuable for the researches on the historic issues such as the feudal states of the Zhou Dynasty in the present-day Zhengzhou area and the eastward transferring of the Zheng State, and the establishment of the sequence of the archaeological cultures of the Western and Eastern Zhou Periods in the Zhengzhou area.
