Genetic factors account for a large proportion of breast cancer cases, but a great part of these cases could only be explained by the low-penetrance genes such as GST gene. As a member of the GST gene family, GSTM gene polymorphism correlates with the susceptibility to some cancers. Many investigations have performed the relationship between GSTM polymorphism and the genetic susceptibility to breast cancer. However, the outcomes are inconsistent. This review aims to provide a panorama of the previous researches and to highlight the advances in this field.
