When the two air compressors installed on the ground floor of a wind tunnel labo-ratory are working, the 2nd floor of the neighbouring building vibrates severely. Field vibra-tion testing finds that the predominant frequencies appear as multiplication. The fundamen-tal frequency is corresponding to the revolving speed and the other predominant frequencies are caused by the motion of three pistons. The amplitude of vertical vibration is larger than that of the horizontal vibration in the 2nd floor, so the vibration absorbing will be paid more attention to. When 80 isolation cushions are designed and installed the amplitude of vertical vibration is only 1/10 of the before,and the desired vibration control expect is achieved.
