This paper proposed a novel routing protocol in WSNs with mobile sinks-"a local location update-based routing protocol (ALLUP)", ALLUP for short. When the sink node moves, it only needs to broadcast its location information within a local area rather than among the entire network. Both theoretical analysis and simulation studies showed that compared with existing protocols that need to update the sinks location information among the entire network, the proposed protocal consumed less energy and decreased the collisions in wireless transmissions, which can be used in large-scale WSNs.
