A serials of a-amino acid derivatives, in yields of 88% - 99% and d/r of 1.2 ： 1 - 1.3 ： 1, were synthesized by K2CO3-promoted conjugate addition of β-keto esters with methyl 2-phthalimidoacrylates. The structures were confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and HR-MS（ESI-TOF）.
