Function of Degree of Disagreement( FDOD), a new measure of information discrepancy is applied to analysis of similarity of DNA sequences. FDOD describes DNA primary sequences by their subsequence distributions, therefore, the information of DNA sequences is sufficiently taken into account. For different length of subsequence the approach is illustrated through the examination of similarities among the coding sequences of the first exon of β-globin gene of 11 different species, i. e. , human, goat, gallus, opossum, lemur, mouse, rabbit, rat, gorilla, bovine and chimpanzee. The results demonstrate that FDOD method is a simple but effective tool of analyzing similarity of DNA sequences.
