神经干细胞治疗中风的传统观念是尽量避免缺血半暗带神经元的丢失,但在损伤部位,诸多种类的细胞丢失,包括星形胶质细胞。星形胶质细胞是中枢神经系统中的主要细胞类型,在哺乳动物的脑细胞中约占20%~30%,主要用以维持中枢神经系统的自我平衡。在受到损伤时,星形胶质细胞可通过改善糖代谢、支持血脑屏障及分泌脑源性神经因子保护神经元避免损伤和死亡,为神经再生提供相应物质,且由于脑梗死、外伤等原因被激活的星形胶质细胞具有神经干细胞特性,拥有分化为神经干细胞和神经元的潜力。鉴于以上特性,星形胶质细胞或许更适合作为治疗中风的靶细胞。
The traditional concept of neural stem cells in the treatment of stroke is avoid neuron loss in penumbra. However, at the injury site, all kinds of cells are lost, including astrocytes. Astrocytes are the main types of cells in the central nervous system(CNS), which account for about 20% to 30% in mammalian brain cells. Astrocytes are mainly used to maintain homeostasis of CNS. In damage, astrocytes can protect neurons from injury and death by improving glucose metabolism, supporting the blood-brain barrier and secretion of brain-derived neurotrophic factor, which provide the corresponding material for nerve regeneration. The activated astrocytes, due to cerebral infarction, trauma and other reasons, have neural stem cell characteristics. In view of the above characteristics, astrocytes may be more suitable as target cells for the treatment of stroke.
