The paper mainly introduces the recent situation of PHS, and summarizes the genetic and physiological characteristics of the enzyme activity including different kinds of alpha amy- lase （α-Amy-1.α-Amy-2、α-Amy-3.LMA et al）, debranching enzyme,phenol oxidase, etc. , as well as the change of hormone content during PHS and the relation among them. The paper also explores some approaches to controlling PHS from the perspectives of genetics and cultivation.
