Component- based software development （CBSD） is a new method of software development, whose core is component technique. Component technique is based on 130 technique, and also developed 130 technique very well. Software with high quality, good reliability, good reusability, good maintainability, can be obtained, when designed using the method of CBSD. Nowadays, lots of applications are designed using the method of CBSD. In this paper, the main concepts of component and the technology of CESD are introduced, and the similarities and differences of CBSD and traditional objected oriented development （OOD） are attained.
