Based on the analysis of relevant statistical of the pig industry,including the rising status of Jiangxi＇ s data, the paper summarizes the stage characteristics pig industry, the strong momentum of development, the scale of fanning culture, the increasing threshold,loose species resource constraint, slowing market mecha- nism, and improving industry policy support and supervision. As the industry is now facing various challenges such as weak public foundation during the process of its development, weak management, the urgent need to enhance the professional level, the need to optimize the pig industry development planning level and to strengthen production and marketing docking, etc, it is important to learn from the experience of the develop- ment of pig industry in developed countries.In view of all these ,some development strategies were put forward for Jiangxi＇s pig industry：closer attention should be paid to breeding, and out of source dependence be empha- sized;the whole industry chain management should implemented, and coordinated development practiced;hog futures market price should be established, and insurance system perfected;family farms should be developed, and the environment protected;importance should be attached to personnel training and management of trust, and the organization and coordination strengthened;effective docking market should be achieved and the indus- trial integration and related industry development policies improved, etc..
