英文摘要：

Economic globalization and rapid urbanization has transformed spatial structures of urban centers. Now urban service industries usually agglomerate in more than one locations in the city with functional differentiation among them. Hence urban center systems are formed. The paper starts from the concept of urban center system, a collection of localities with different functions, scales and service complexities. Within the system, different centers are closely linked with each other so the system remains an organic whole. In addition, the paper also analyzes the hierarchical order and stages of develop- ment of urban centers as well as proposes the methodological framework of analysis. Elaboration of different urban center system is prsented which covers 3 types： 1） main urban center and multiple sub-centers, 2） two main urban centers and multiple sub-center, and 3） multiple main urban centers. Advantages and the disadvantages of different types of urban centers system are also summarized.
