Various flowering-related genes play important roles as developmental regulators in plants. FLC gene is an inhibitor of flowering in Arabidopsis. It can promote flowering in some late-flowering ecotypes and many late-flowering mutants to decrease the level of FLC transcription and expression in the plant. There is a quantitative relationship between the duration of cold treatment and the level of FLC expression. The longer cold treatment time is, and the weaker level of FLC expression is. The molecular-characteristics and expression inhibition mechanism of FLC gene in Arabidopsis thaliana were introduced in detail.
