The international monetary system is undergoing profound changes since the 2007 financial crisis. The RMB should take the first ＂peripheral＂ and then ＂regionalization＂ and finally to achieve ＂international＂ development path expanding from a regional perspective according to the history of the revelation of other currencies and the current international economy with the objective conditions in China. From the view of monetary functions, there are three key links for the process of internationalization of the RMB as ＂monetary settlement＂, ＂investment money＂ and ＂reserve currency＂. It should be noted that to promote the intemationalization of the RMB, to improve the RMB internationalization of the above three functions are not mutually isolated, there is no strict order, but should be complementary and mutually reinforcing.
