in angiosperms, pollen-wall was essential for pollen development, sperm protection and fertiliza-tion. The pollen-wall had a complex structure which formed through three major developmental processes: primexine formation, sporopollenin precursor synthesis and sporopollenin deposition, and the formation of in-tine. Classification of the genes involved in the formation of priexine, sporopollenin and intine had been vital for understanding the mechanism of pollen-wall formation and development. It was summarized the advance of research on cloning and function of pollen development in recent years, and the molecular mechanism of pol-len-wall development was discussed.
