From Jan to Feb, 2012, 9 kinds of heavy metals (Mn, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn, As, Hg) in the feces of the wintering ecology of Otis tarda dybowskii from the Yellow river wetland in Shaanxi province was surveyed. The results showed that the highest content of heavy metal was Mn (174.55 mg∕kg), followed by Zn (57.46 mg∕kg). The lower content of metals were Cd and Hg, with 0.35 mg∕kg and 0.05 mg∕kg, respectively. The contents of Cd and Hg in the feces of Otis tarda dybowskii were higher than that of other birds. The feasibility on the bird feces as environmental monitoring indicator was discussed.
