Human skin is a highly scattering translucent material, and the interaction between skin and light is difficult to be modeled and simulated, so realistic real - time rendering for human skin is very challenging. This paper discusses three aspects such as rendering using blur processing, rendering in texture space and rendering in screen space, and gives a sum- mary of realistic real - time skin rendering. Each process of rendering is analyzed in details, and its improvement and difference is discussed. Also, the paper describes the advantages and disadvantages of various methods, and compares dif- ferent application scope. At last, the paper gives the research direction in the future.
