The fiber optic true delay technique can help to realize broadband and wide-angle scan in phased array antenna. Based on existing optical delay line (ODL) structures, it's implemented a new switching structure of ODL using semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA) and Faraday rotation mirrors (FRM). This structure has the advantages of fast tunability, high delay precision, stable output power, and polarization independence. The delay of this structure can be controlled at a precision of 1 ps with error of less than 0.1 ps.
