The paper discusses the value chain of public science and technology in mega sports events from 3 dimensions,such as connotation,structure and function.From the connotation of public science and technology,and using value chain theory for reference,the authors put forward the definition of the value chain of public science and technology.The value chain of public science and technology could be deconstructed into 3 links：the choice of public science and technology,the development of public science and technology,and the diffusion of public science and technology.Based on it,the authors analyzed the particularity of public science and technology value chain in mega sports events.Three remarkable functions exist in public science and technology value chain based on mega sports events：the promotion of the construction of public science and technology system,the prevention of the idle and waste of science and technology resource,the promotion of scientific literacy of citizen.
