The quality control and assurance of ceramic matrix composites by non-destructive testing (NDT) have always been a challenge due to their anisotropy, inhomogeneity, and urgency of application in aeronautic and astronautic fields. In this paper the current state and development of the non-destructive testing of the ceramic matrix composites are summerized. Principles of three significant NDT methods.. Ultrasonic wave, infrared thermal imaging and industrial X-ray CT for the ceramic matrix composites are introduced in detail, and their application progress for ceramic matrix composites is elucidated.
