Dr. Ting Xie obtained his B.S. degree of metallic materials in 1984 and M.S. degree of metallic materials in 1987from Hefei Univerisity of Technology, Ph.D. degree of physics of condensed matter in 2004 from Institute of Solid State Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. From 1987 to present, he works in the Institute of Tribology, Hefei University of Technology. In 1998- 1999, he worked in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. He was promoted to be the full professor in 2005. Dr. Xie＇s research interest include mainly the following fields： synthesis of nanos- tructured materials, nanocomposites, tribology of materials. Up to now, Xie has authored and co-authored about 40 SCI-cited pa- pers which were published in high-profile journals such as J. Am. Chem. Soc., Adv. Mater., Appl. Phys. Lett., Nanotechnology, J.
