Objective To investigate the impact of coping modes and social support on catheter selection in cancer patients with PICC in - chemotherapy ,and to provide a theoretical basis for reducing chemotherapy phlebitis incidence .Methods We used general questionnaire ,social support rating scale (SSRS) and medi‐cal coping modes questionnaire (MCMQ ) to investigate 298 cases of chemotherapy cancer patients in the second hospital of Baoding in HeBei province during November 2015 to February 2016 .Results In 298 ca‐ses of cancer chemotherapy patients ,193 cases chose PICC ,the rate of choosing PICC was 64 .8% .The proportion of choosing PICC was higher in males than female .The higher average household income and health insurance ,the more patients will choose PICC .The longer time take from home to hospital ,the lower proportion of patients choose catheter .The higher level of social support cancer patients have ,the higher proportion of chemotherapy cancer patients choosing PICC .Coping modes in patients who get higher score of confrontation means the higher proportion of catheter .The proportion of placing PICC in chemo‐therapy cancer patients who get higher average scores of avoidance and yield was lower .The difference was statistically significant (P〈0 .05) .Non - conditional logistic regression analysis showed that mode of med‐ical payment ,confrontation ,avoidance ,yield and support of other patients had an impact on catheter selec‐tion of chemotherapy cancer patients .Conclusion The rate of placing PICC of chemotherapy cancer pa‐tients needs to be improved ,coping modes affect the selection of chemotherapy cancer patients with PICC .
