This paper reports the result of an empirical study of the validity of non-finite verbs as an indicator for SLA learners＇ syntactic maturity. The study was conducted on the basis of the intermediate and primary corpora in Chinese Learner English Corpus（ CLEC） and shows that the increase in using infinitives in non-finite verbs functions as some indicator of syntactic maturity,but non-finite verbs,as holistic whole,are indispositive indicators of intermediate and primary learners＇ syntactic maturity.
