Internet Group Management Protocol （IGMP） is one of the main functions of the access network. This paper firstly introduces the basic principle of IGMP in EPON system. Then, the paper analyzes both ad- vantage and disadvantage in the implementation oflGMP＇s function according to the technical requirements of the EPON equipment. After improving the implementing scheme, researchers propose the optimized solution oflGMP.
