A simple and novel symbol timing synchronization technology is proposed which is suit for intensi- ty modulation and direct detection (IMDD) optical OFDM PON systems. The algorithm is based on training sequence. With the method of sliding window to calculate the correlation value which is just needed some simple subtraction and addition operation by utilizing the characteristic of this special structure of long train- ing sequence, the receiver can accurately find the optimal synchronization position corresponding to the mini- mum correlation value.The simulation and experiment show that the new algorithm is available for system.
