"Sugar bails" possessing special structures and favorable performances have attracted extensive attention in the biomedical field. As a novel type of non-biological carriers, "sugar halls" with safe, highly active and innoxious characteristics have great potentials in the fields of drug transportation, acceptor inhibiting, antigen reagent and vaccine, and medical diagnosis. Development in the synthesis of " sugar balls" and their potential applications in recent years are reviewed.
